Brenda Lei Foster was appointed President of the American Chamber
of Commerce in Shanghai in September 2005. Prior to that, she served as
President and CEO of ULU Group, Ltd., a firm specializing in emerging
technologies in the Asia/Pacific region. Ms. Foster served as Executive
Assistant to the Governor of Hawaii for International & National Affairs
(1995-2002), Director of the State of Hawaii’s Office of International
Relations (1992-94), and Executive Director of Hawaii’s World Affairs
Council, the Pacific & Asian Affairs Council (1977-92).
A nationally and internationally respected expert in Asian affairs with a B.A.
and M.A. in Chinese studies from the University of Washington, and an M.B.A. from the University of Hawaii, Ms. Foster is a member of several national organizations, including the Council on Foreign Relations (NY), the Pacific Council on International Policy (LA), the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the Asia Society, and the U.S. Committee on the Council for Security Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific. She has served as President of the National Council of World Affairs Organizations (1989-91) and is a former member of the Staff Advisory Councils for the National Governors’ Association and Western Governors’ Association of which she was chair from 1999-2000. Ms. Foster serves on a number of boards and advisory councils. She is married with one child. |
